
John Scott Rattan
After playing collegiately at the University of Tennessee and playing professional golf for 4 seasons, John Scott began teaching golf full time in 2009. In 2013, he joined the staff at Bethesda Country Club. In 2017, he joined the team at Congressional Country Club as a teaching professional where he is currently the Director of Instruction.
John Scott’s experience and knowledge of what it takes to compete at high levels, coupled with his ability to create positive relationships with his students has attracted top junior, amateur and professional golfers to work with him. By using a holistic approach which utilizes the latest technology and research to help his students, he formulates a game plan and practice program to help them achieve their goals.
John Scott has been recognized in Golf Digest as a “Best Teacher in State” and a “Best Young Teacher”, as well as Golf Magazine as a “Rising Star”. In 2020, John Scott was named the Middle Atlantic PGA Section Teacher of the Year.

Coaching & Instruction Experience - As a coach, John Scott has worked with the top instructors in the game and has been a coach at the Division 1 collegiate level. Along with experience from working at top golf academies, John Scott continues to study and learn from other bright and innovative coaches and is a lifelong learner of the game of golf.
Playing Experience - John Scott understands competition and how to prepare for it. Competing for the University of Tennessee, in national amateur events, on the Web.com Tour and twice advancing to the 2nd stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School give him a unique understanding of all levels of competition.
Approach- John Scott uses tried and true methods to teach his students while using the latest technology to obtain the best results. From Trackman, to Swing Catalyst and 3D technology, John Scott has the ability to gather data and diagnose, which helps him create an effective game plan for each student to support them in following their dreams. His professional students have won on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Canada, and PGA Tour China. As of 2022, 3 of John Scott’s students have gone on to earn their PGA Tour card through the Korn Ferry Tour. John Scott currently coaches players on the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, and PGA Tour Canada.
