New to the Knoxville area, Ken has brought his 20+ years of golf coaching to the Dead Horse Lake Golf Course. In April 2018, Ken Simonds was announced as the Head Golf Professional and Director of Instruction at Hidden Valley Country Club in Reno, Nevada. He is a Class A PGA golf instructor with 20 years of golf instruction experience. Ken holds a degree in Professional Golf Management and is certified in advanced golf instruction. He has served as Head Golf Professional at La Costa's two world class golf courses - the Champions and Legends Course. Previously he was the director of golf for the Calabasas Country Club, and was also the lead instructor of the club’s very active instructional program. He led the development of a state of the art golf academy and performance center. Previously he has served as head golf professional and instructor at the flagship PGA West nine-course golf complex in La Quinta, Calif. and held the same position at Whitetail Golf Club in McCall, Idaho. He has held the position of golf professional/instructor at the renowned Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif. and The Grand Golf Club in Del Mar, Calif. Ken considers himself fortunate in his career to have been surrounded by some of the top instructors in the industry. He credits much of his teaching success from having the in-person opportunity to study techniques of leading golf instructors in the world such as Dean Reinmuth at The Grand Golf Club, world Hall of Fame instructor Eddie Merrins at Bel-Air Country Club and the instructors of the Jim McLean Golf School at PGA West in La Quinta, CA.
Ken is proficient in the use of golf instruction video and launch monitor/golf radar systems. He regularly attends the PGA Teaching & Coaching Summit, a biannual event where all the leaders in the industry meet to discuss the latest developments in the field and is committed to keeping current with the latest in golf instruction and technology in order to offer you the best experience possible.
