
Mel Callender, PGA
Life MemberMel has been a student of golf for over 50 years. He played on the Texas Tech golf team earning the Arch Lamb award as the number one player for consecutive years and spending summers playing in high profile amateur tournaments. Upon graduation, he played on the South America and Asia tours.
He served as Head Golf professional at TPC at The Woodlands and introduced the sport to blind athlete Craig McFarland. In addition, Mel served as Director of Golf with other facilities and junior golf programs throughout the country. Several of the clubs hosted PGA Tour events. Recently he served as a teacher/high school golf coach, and has had players advance to the collegiate level.
Mel is a PGA Golf Professional who holds lifetime membership, is a certified PGA Hope Instructor and ADM certified . He has taught with renowned golf instructor Peter Kostis. owner of the Peter Kostis Learning Academy at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona and former Head Instructor for Golf Digest Instruction Schools.
