Bump It and Run It In Windy Conditions

In many parts of the country, golfers must contend with windy conditions..  To successfully play "under the wind," the best strategy on a windy day is the "knock down" or "bump and run".  To execute this type of shot, play the ball "back in your stance," two to three balls toward the rear of your normal position. At address, also place your hands and handle of the club, two balls in front of the ball, creating a "forward press" position. This set up will "deloft" the club and generate a steeper angle of delivery, to produce a lower ball flight, enabling the ball to "run" along the ground. Use the same set up for a driver but lower the tee so that the ball sits 1-2 inches off the ground.  Swing away and remember to have fun!
