PGA instructor McLean releases new book on "The Slot Swing"

MIAMI, Fla. -- World-renowned PGA teaching professional Jim McLean has written a new book, "The Slot Swing: The Proven Way to Hit Consistent and Powerful Shots Like the Pros."

In his new book, McLean details the fact that he has studied, literally, thousands of golf swings and noticed the fact that none of the great golfers he studied had a perfect swing in which the backstroke and downstroke were identical.

In fact, what McLean noticed was the fact that despite marked differences in their backswing, all top professional golfers dropped their club into what McLean calls the "slot" during the transition.

When the clubshaft drops into the "slot" it provides better control and increased club speed at the point of impact, McLean said. Of course, with more control and faster club speed, golfers will be able to hit the ball farther and straighter.

To illustrate the "slot," McLean enlisted the artistic expertise of Phil Franke. More than 75 illustrations with incredible detail appear throughout "The Slot Swing," including a full-color foldout detailing the swings of Sergio Garcia, Tiger Woods, Bruce Lietzke and Jim Furyk.

These illustrations map the swings of the four superstars and show you where they drop into the "slot."

McLean details, in very simple terms, how every golfer can find the "slot"; how they can groove their swing with the "slot;" and how to fix flaws in their golf swing.

McLean has long been recognized as one of the top golf instructors in the world, and is currently ranked No. 4 by Golf Digest. He is the owner of the top-rated Jim McLean Golf School, with locations at resorts including Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla., and PGA West in La Quinta, Calif.

He has authored more than a dozen golf books and produced more than a dozen videos and DVDs, including the recently released "Building Block Approach To Golf."
