Get in the Zone with Collin Morikawa's PGA Coach Rick Sessinghaus

Published on

Does your pre-shot routine put you in the proper frame of mind? When you listen to Dr. Rick Sessinghaus, PGA you quickly learn how important our mental preparation is for playing our best on the golf course.
Rick is the PGA Coach for defending PGA Champion Collin Morikawa. Together they not only work on Collin’s physical swing, but the mental side as well. Last year at the 102nd PGA Championship contested at TPC Harding Park, Collin set himself apart from a pack of golfers in the final round by getting into a deep flow state.
Also commonly referred to as being in the “zone,” athletes who achieve this level of mental calmness and focus don’t just happen to fall into it. In listening to Seessinghaus’s approach, we quickly realize there is a tangible practice for getting the most out of our performance.
A flow state follows your focus. What you pay attention to really affects your execution. Every golfer should pay attention or focus more on what you want, rather than what you don’t. It’s an extremely powerful mental lesson Rick shares with us. One we all don’t need Collin’s golf swing to practice.
Tune into PGA Coaching Live presented by Cadillac during the PGA Championship for tips, drills and fun activities to help you play the game for life.
