**PGA HOPE is the flagship military program of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE is designed to introduce golf to Veterans and Active Duty Military to support their social, emotional, and physical well being.**

Join PGA HOPE alongside your fellow Veterans and Servicemembers. PGA HOPE has served thousands of Veterans and Servicemembers across the United States through one of our 300+ locations.

This introductory program is designed to welcome those of all ages, branches and eras of service, genders, and abilities to the golf course and share in camaraderie and fun together as a group. During this session you will learn the basics from grip to 9 holes of golf from PGA and LPGA Professionals.

**Please note that Veterans and Active-Duty Military members may not participate in multiple PGA HOPE Southern Texas sessions.**

**Once an individual has graduated from a PGA HOPE Southern Texas program, they are no longer eligible to enroll in additional sessions**

**Any graduate who attempts to enroll in another session will be automatically removed from the session roster.**

- No golf equipment is required. If you do have clubs and/or any specialty equipment, please bring them with you.
- No prior golf experience necessary
- No VA disability rating required
- Veterans do not have to have combat or deployments in order to participate
- All expenses associated with PGA HOPE are covered

PGA HOPE Laguna Vista - Session 1

Teaching Professional @  Golf Club of Texas, San Antonio

This will be a four session clinic available to men, ladies, and couples on Saturdays beginning with May 30th and continuing through June 20th.  Each session will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 11:00 am.  It will include all portions of the golf game including full swing, short game, putting, trouble shots and bunkers.  It will be geared towards the golfer at the ability level they arrive.  The focus will be to help golfers learn simple, repeatable ways to get around the golf course in a fun and effective way.  At the end of each session, the participants will have a practice frformula to work on their own game between sessions.

Topics Covered:

1. Week 1 (May 30th)-Putting and the basics of golf:  Items to be covered will include a) short putting fundamentals; b) long (lag) putting; c) green reading; d) speed or distance control; e) basic rules of golf; f) golf etiquette; and g) a quick look at each player’s golf equipment to determine if their set is configured to help them improve. Suggestions will be made where obvious improvements can be made to their set. (New grips, missing clubs, extra clubs that are not needed, shafts that are too strong or too weak for the player, etc.)
1. Week 2 (June 6th)-skipping May 11th-Hyatt Tournament Chipping and Pitching:  Items to be covered will include a) the four cardinal rules of short game; b) short chips; c) using your hybrid for short game; d) pitching fundamentals.
1. Week 3 (June 13th)-Bunker Play and Trouble shots:  Items to be covered will include: a) getting out of a bunker consistently in one shot; b) learning how to get bunker shots higher in the air so they land softer and stop on the greens; c) learning how to hit planned low shots, high shots, shots from uneven lies (feet above the ball, feet below the ball, downhill lies, and uphill lies).
1. Week 4 (June 20th)-Full Swing: Items to be included will include a) the four fundamentals of the full swing; b) the ball flight laws; c) how to self analyze shot results to learn how to improve; d) and a video review of each player’s golf swing to help each player learn to hit the ball higher, farther, or just to learn how to hit a club that has been a problem.
