Sue Nyhus
Sue Billek - Nyhus came to Utah from Florida to play collegiate golf. Nyhus earned her BS & MS in Education from BYU and her PhD in Sport Psychology from the University of Utah. After collegiate golf, Nyhus competed on the Ladies European Tour for four years.
After the birth of her second child, Nyhus regained her amateur status. She competed in the summers winning two women’s state amateurs, player of the year for women numerous years, female player of the decade, and UGA (women & men) player of the year in 1999. Nyhus holds an unbeatable USGA record. She qualified for and competed in every championship the USGA has offered. No other person (male nor female) has accomplished this and because two events have been discontinued, no one will ever match it!
Nyhus began collegiate coaching in 1998 at BYU. She retired from collegiate coaching in 2021 with eleven seasons as head coach at both BYU and UVU.
In 2021 Nyhus was inducted to the Utah Golf Association Hall of Fame.
Nyhus turned professional again and completed her Class A PGA training earning election in to the Utah Section of the PGA in 2021.
Nyhus continues to compete locally in the Utah Section of the PGA as well as regionally and nationally.
