Home to one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, Seattle is a must-visit for any sports fan. And this year, the 12s will be even louder at Lumen Field as they cheer on their defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks. 

The perfect juxtaposition to the relentless cheers in the stands and the tough play on the football field is the stunning Pacific Northwest scenery, which stands as beautiful and peaceful as anywhere in the world. 

And what better place to experience the majestic landscape than one of Seattle's impressive golf courses. While stunning Sahalee, site of the 2016 and 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the 1998 PGA Championship, is private, many other fun courses are open to the public.

Home to one of golf’s most recognizable trees, Lone Fir, Chambers Bay’s sprawling layout is as iconic as it is challenging. Players will be pumped for this true links experience while enjoying the incredible backdrop of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Chambers Bay’s exciting Robert Trent II layout weaves through swaying fescue grasses, towering dunes, and rolling fairways, providing ample opportunities to hit a shot you’ll never forget. Having challenged some of the best players on earth, Chambers Bay welcomes you to see how your game stacks up to some of the legends of the game. 

If you’re looking for some courses you can spend a couple of days playing, you will love what you find at The Golf Club at Newcastle. Featuring 36 holes of championship golf, The Golf Club at Newcastle’s Coal Creek & China Creek courses are set on 350 hilltop acres that provide breathtaking views of Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, and the Seattle skyline throughout your rounds. Add in the Rusty Putter, an 18-hole putting course perfect for a memorable afternoon, and it’s clear why The Golf Club at Newcastle is one of the local favorites.

 

The perfect escape if you’re downtown, West Seattle Golf Course is known for its fun layout that always keeps players guessing. A tale of two nines, the front meanders alongside Longfellow Creek with relatively flat terrain to help players settle into their rounds, while the contrasting back plays much more difficult, including the 515-yard, par-5 12th hole, the course’s signature hole and one of the most challenging ones in the city. Speaking of the city, you must take in the skyline views on this classic municipal track.  

Don’t get lost in the views! If that’s becoming a theme, it’s because this scenery is just that incredible. Set nine miles south of Chambers Bay in Dupont, The Home Course shares some of the same gorgeous views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier with a unique layout that is a lot of fun. Mike Asmundson knocked it out of the park when designing The Home Course, with its wandering fairways and challenging greens that’ll keep you locked in for the entire round. 

Players are encouraged to wear purple and gold, as Husky Pride runs deep here. The proud home to the University of Washington’s men’s and women’s golf teams, Washington National makes every player feel D1. While Washington National doesn’t have any dog-shaped greens, one could argue that there could be some paw shaped bunkers around the course. Speaking of the greens at Washington National, they are wide and undulating, so make sure you bring your short game. It’s hard not to notice the rugged landscape and tall trees while standing on the well-manicured fairways and greens and realize how special this area is. 

Set on a special piece of land in southeast King County, Druids Glen Golf Club is one of Western Washington's true gems. This Keith Foster championship design stretches to a lengthy 7,146 yards from the back tees and features over 60 bunkers and nine lakes. The layout is the quintessence of Pacific Northwest golf, with rolling fairways and undulating poa annua greens sculpted from 376 acres of second-growth evergreen forest. The bonus? Mount Rainier serves as a stunning backdrop to the picturesque terrain.

You can’t come to Seattle without checking a few spots off your bucket list. First, you gotta check out the stadiums, starting with Lumen Field, home to the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks and the soccer clubs Seattle Sounders and Seattle Reign FC. While The Kingdome is gone, you can still visit T-Mobile Park to see where greats like Ken Griffey Jr. played and maybe even catch a Mariners game. A final stop at Climate Pledge Arena, home of the Kraken and Storm, will cap off an unforgettable stadium tour. 

Perhaps the most iconic spot in the city is Pike Place Fish Market and its unmissable “flying fish”. Keep your head on a swivel! If you’re hungry, be sure to head over to nearby Lowell’s Restaurant for a hearty bread bowl of Clam Chowder. 

If you’re looking to step up your Instagram game, the Space Needle is a must-visit for the views and the experience. The Seattle Great Wheel, Kerry Park, and the Museum of Pop Culture are also great spots to make some memories and snap unbelievable photos. It’s nearly impossible to narrow down a list of delicious spots to fill your stomach in Seattle, but some highlights include Spinasse, Shiro's Sushi, Un Bien, Alebrijes Kitchen, FamilyFriend, Glo’s Diner, and Bar Del Corso. 

 Other fun places to stop by if you have the time are the Seattle Aquarium, Gas Works Park, the Fremont Troll and the Original Starbucks.
